Optimizing Power Allocation in LoRaWAN IoT Applications

Long-range wide-area network (LoRaWAN) is one of the most promising IoT technologies that are widely adopted in low-power networks (LPWANs). LoRaWAN faces scalability issues due to a large number nodes connected same gateway and sharing channel. Therefore, LoRa seek achieve two main objectives: 1) successful delivery rate 2) efficient energy consumption. This article proposes novel game-theoretic framework for named best equal (BE-LoRa), jointly optimize packet ratio efficiency (bit/Joule). The utility function node defined as throughput transmit power. act rational users (players) which maximize their utility. aim BE-LoRa algorithm while maintaining signal-to-interference-and-noise-ratio (SINR) each spreading factor (SF). power allocation implemented at server, leads an optimum SINR, SFs, transmission settings all nodes. Numerical simulation results show proposed has significant improvement compared adaptive data (ADR) legacy LoRaWAN. For instance, very dense (624 nodes), can improve by 17.44% reduce consumed 46% ADR.
